Bel Canto at the MET 2025
Tuesday, October 14, 21, 28 & November 4
10 am - Noon

The operas of the bel canto composers Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti feature prominently at the Metropolitan Opera in 2025.  A sparkling revival of Il Barbiere di Siviglia closed last season, with new productions of La Sonnambula and I Puritani and a revival of La Fille du Regiment highlighting this season.  This course will examine each of these opera, from a historical perspective at the MET through the current season, showcasing some of the extraordinary singers and their artistry from the past to present that continue to enthrall audiences.

Are you are looking for a talk on musicals or opera or great performers?

I have delivered hundreds of talks and classes for over 15 years throughout Long Island and New York City.  The subjects range from voices of opera (Luciano Pavarotti, Renee Fleming, Joan Sutherland) to great entertainers (Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand, Sidney Poitier) to theater and opera history (The Rodgers & Hammerstein Era, Bernstein on Broadway).  And more are being added all the time.

Currently, I have more than 125 lectures prepared.  I can tailor something to your needs, or even write something specifically for your organization.  I also do multi-week courses, designed around specific topics relating to Musicals, Opera and Great Performers.  All of my lectures are done in Keynote, MAC’s version of PowerPoint, which are very easy to set up in any space.  They are filled with photos, and music and video clips.  Most talks are usually one hour in length, and I always appreciate a Q&A afterward.  My rates are reasonable. This is a labor of love for me.  As long as I am passionate about the topic, I am always eager to do the research and assemble a quality presentation.
